SEA TURTLE NESTING INFORMATION
Beaches serve as nesting sites for Sea Turtles, and Sand Key is no exception. Every year nesting season is May - October. In April the Clearwater Marine Aquarium does a presentation explaining how to best protect the Sea Turtles and their nesting sites. Each morning the Clearwater Marine Aquarium has a team that goes around and checks each beach looking for Sea Turtle Nesting areas. If they find any they will block them off. Our job each morning is to call and get the "All Clear" message. When we call if they have not yet cleared Sand Key we will have to wait until they do before proceeding onto the beach.
